“Lessons in Islamic Belief” or Durus al-Tawhid is a short primer in the science of Islamic Belief. The author is the prolific scholar and caller to Allah’s way, Habib Muhammad bin Salim bin Hafidh. The uniqueness of this text is that not only is it short and concise but it contains knowledge that other texts do not include at this level such as a discussion on the judgments of the intellect and textual proofs regarding the attributes of Allah Most High. This text is studied in the Hadramawt region of south Yemen as an introduction to the broader subject of Islamic Theology. This text is best studied before more famous primary texts like Kharida al-Bahiyya and Jawhara al-Tawhid.

About the Author:

Habib Muhammad bin Salim bin Hafidh was born in the city of Tarim, Yemen in the Year 1332 AH. He wrote this book to ensure people of all ages know their beliefs. He was known for his excellence in Islamic Law, Spirituality, and calling to Allah’s way (dawa). His other famous works include A Summary of the Science of Inheritance, The Key to understanding the Law of Marriage, The Hadrami Epistle in regards to the religious knowledge women must possess, and A Collection of Religious Verdicts (Fatawa).

He chose to remain in Tarim even though he was persecuted and eventually martyred by the communist regime.
