About the Text

This text is useful for seekers of knowledge because it outlines a method of self-rectification, gearing students to prepare their hearts to take further knowledge.

About the Author

Imam Abdullah ibn ‘Alawi al-Haddad (1044–1142 AH) was one of the most outstanding scholars of his time. His significance arises from his work to revive the Islamic tradition. He is considered a reviver of the twelfth century.

He is primarily known for his works in Islamic spirituality from the Ba ’Alawiyya Sufi order. His works include The Book of Assistance, The Lives of Man, Religious Counsels, and Knowledge and Wisdom.

Imam Haddad had the unique ability to synthesize the knowledge that had come before him into works easily accessible for Muslims of his time. His works provide us with valuable knowledge on how to act with wisdom.

  • It is particularly beneficial for High School and University students.
  • This course can also be taken by anyone who is interested in learning parts of the Qur’an through a lens of self-rectification and purification of the heart.

About the Instructor

Shaykh Yusuf Weltch

Shaykh Yusuf Weltch is a teacher of Arabic, Islamic law, and spirituality. After accepting Islam in 2008, he then completed four years at the Darul Uloom seminary in New York where he studied Arabic and the traditional sciences. He then travelled to Tarim, Yemen, where he stayed for three years studying in Dar Al-Mustafa under some of the greatest scholars of our time, including Habib Umar Bin Hafiz, Habib Kadhim al-Saqqaf, and Shaykh Umar al-Khatib. In Tarim, Shaykh Yusuf completed the memorization of the Qur’an and studied inheritance law, legal methodology, hadith methodology, Qur’anic exegesis, Islamic history, and a number of texts on spirituality. He joined the SeekersGuidance faculty in the summer of 2019.
