Asalamu Alaikum. In Hadith 17 it says 'So when you kill, kill excellently well'. Is this referring only to killing animals or even humans in battle?

The Hadith is general with regards to killing. Obviously this refers to the rightful ending of a life, whether that being in battle or for a Hadd punishment; and whether that applies to humans, insects, rodents, etc...
