Rational Possibility/absurdity & Creating cause & effect.

Assalamu alaykum warahmatullah.

1. What would be classified as Rational possibility & impossibility? Eg; for someone in the past the idea of communicating with another human being on the other side of the world without presence or in the form of letters would be rationally absurd. But in the modern day this is a contingent necessity.

2. When we say that Allah placing the effect in a cause is Bidah what does that mean? Eg; If a person says Allah has created & sustains the ability of satiation in the food & has placed that effect in it. Hence, it is a Normative ruling. Would this be Bidah?

Interesting question. Just wanted to give my thoughts on it. Something which is rational impossible would be something rationally impossible in the mind I.e running forward and backwards at the Same time this rationally impossible, hence communicating to someone across the other side of world would not be rationally impossible but rather physically impossible because of the current state of people and technology.

As for the cause and effect. Allah is the cause for everything, moreover to say that the effect of satiation placed in the food would be a bidah. The food of one person is enough for two, the food of two is enough for four, and the food of four is enough for eight.” What do we take from
This Hadith besides the blessings of sharing the theologians will see it from a different angel that the Hadith shows that food does not satiated but Allah does, because if food did, then one persons food would satiate one person and not two.

If you read imam Ghazali’s Tahafut al-Falasifah which was a radd against the philosophers and against ibn sina and Ibn Farabi. Imam Ghazali refutes the idea that the world is governed by cause and effect but he says that each action is individual and that Allah is the soul cause for everything. The earth is not left to run on its own natural order as the philosophers believe but Allah is the one who governs everything to smallest detail for example Allah allows fire to burn every time it burns not that it’s nature is to burn. The evidence he provides when Allah tell the fire to be cool with sayyiduna Ibrahim in the Quran.

Thats his most famous Work against the philosophers and his Iqtisa’ad on Kalam is worth a read
