I am reading Elish’s Taqreeb Al Aqaid with a native Arab speaker.
He writes:
فليست النار محرقة بطبعها ولا بقوة مخلوقة فيها
وانما الخالق للاحراق الله تعالى عند خلقه النار
ولو شاء خلق النار و لم يخلق الاحراق
ولو شاء خلق الاحراق و لم يخلق النار
The brother I read to informed me that “ولا بقوة مخلوقة فيها” is a significant point of difference between the Ashari and Maturidi schools. Could you please explain this difference
