L7 Definition of Attachment

As salamu aleykum,

I have a short question regarding the definition of relationship/attachment in lesson 7. It's said that an attachment is a meaning outside of Allah swt that the attributes relate to, an example of which is that with His will Allah specifies the possible.

However as far as I understood it, an attachment can also be related to Allah as there are attributes (such as knowledge) with attachement to the necessary, which is Allah swt Himself. So the provided definition does not apply to this.

Could You please clarify the definition for attachment?

Thank You and wassalam, Anna

In the context of the lesson you mentioned, attachment refers to how divine attributes relate to different aspects. Some attributes are attached directly to Allah (e.g., knowledge to His essence), while others are connected to meanings outside of Allah. For instance, Allah's will is attached to the specification of possibilities. So, attachments can vary: certain attributes relate directly to Allah, while others pertain to meanings or concepts associated with His actions or characteristics. It's essential to consider these various relationships when contemplating Allah's attributes.
