Qadi ‘Iyad’s seminal work on the traits, perfections and rights owed to the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) has been one of the most celebrated works in Islamic history. This is not surprising, given the depth of love the author has for the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) and the amazing insights relating to the perfections of the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) he highlighted in this work.

This course covers the sections of the book that are most relevant to Believers, with a contextualisation of the Qur'anic verses referenced, without which many of the references would remain vague for many readers. The lessons focus on seeing the distinctive perfections of the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace), with the aim of developing a perspective on the respect and reverence due to him.

About the text:

al-Shifa was written for one of the author’s students who was a scholar in his own right, and has, therefore, been the foundation of many scholarly works in its field. Scholars and laymen alike have diligently studied its contents - with the final quarter being especially directed to those who have a strong background in the fields of Law (Fiqh) and ‘Aqida (Theology). The work’s structure is aimed at identifying the great rank and position the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) has in the sight of God, understanding his character and characteristics, and then seeing his traits and perfection. All of this is a necessary preamble to knowing his right and learning how to fulfill them.
