Tirmidhi’s Shama’il Muhammadiyya is a revered collection of about 400 ahadith that provide an in-depth look at the physical attributes, noble character, and daily practices of Prophet Muhammad (Allah bless him and give him peace). Compiled by the esteemed hadith scholar Imam Abu ‘Isa Muhammad Ibn ‘Isa al-Tirmidhi (d. 279/892), this text is one of the most comprehensive and widely recognized works that illustrate the Prophet’s exemplary conduct and personal qualities.

About the Author:

Imam Abu ‘Isa, Muhammad Ibn ‘Isa al-Tirmidhi 

Birth and Death: 

He was born in 824 CE (209 AH) in Tirmidh, a town in present-day Uzbekistan, and passed away in 892 CE (279 AH).

Background and Education:

Imam Tirmidhi was a prominent hadith scholar from the ninth century. He is best known for his significant contributions to the collection and verification of hadiths. Tirmidhi traveled extensively to learn from the foremost Islamic scholars of his time. He studied under renowned scholars such as Imam Bukhari, Imam Muslim, and Imam Abu Dawud, among others. His quest for knowledge took him to various centers of learning across the Islamic world, including Iraq, Hijaz, and Khurasan.
